If you have a dog it is essential to keep your dog fenced in so that you can both protect your dog from others, as well as to protect others from your dog. Traditional fences are one way to do so and can be quite effective as a solution. Building a traditional fence to keep your dog inside the bounds of your property is just one possible solution though, and many people choose to install an invisible fence as an alternative to a physical fence.

What is an invisible fence?

An invisible fence is a fence that doesn’t have a physical presence but provides a similar function as a physical fence for your pets. There are several ways these invisible fences operate but typically they do so by having an underground trench built where sensors are imbedded in the floor and which serve to create an electronic stimulus that is connected to a collar for your pet. The device can be turned off or on so you won’t shock your dog when they leave the property. However, the electric stimulus will soon train the dog to understand that they should not leave the contours of your home. Over a period of time, the dog will understand the boundary and not deviate from it, but in the early days there will be the occasional shock which is mild and not the cause of any long term problems.

Why use an Invisible fence?
